  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (or half and half)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 cup gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth

Instructions

  1. Shape the ground beef into four large patties.
  2. In a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  3. In a medium nonstick skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced mushrooms until golden brown; add crushed garlic towards the end.
  4. Stir in cream cheese, heavy cream, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper; mix until well combined and melted.
  5. Add sour cream and water or broth to the mushroom sauce; mix well.
  6. Pour the sauce over the cooked burgers in the skillet and heat together for a few minutes.
