  • 1 Golden Delicious apple (peeled and grated)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • ¾ + ⅓ cup gluten-free old-fashioned rolled oats (divided)
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose gluten-free flour
  • ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened and cut in 8 pieces)
  • ⅓ cup (optional) chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, or almonds)
  • (optional) caramel ice cream topping (for serving)

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2. In a large bowl, mix sugars, water, lemon juice, cornstarch, vanilla extract, spices, and salt. Add cubed and grated apples; toss well and pour into a baking dish.
